CLEVELAND
- A Cleveland police officer suspended for not checking on a down power line is
facing new administrative charges. Officer Gary Steigelmeyer made comments on
his Facebook page possibly in violation of the department’s social media
policy, a mayor’s office spokeswoman said. A hearing date has not been set. Steigelmeyer
came under fire because he was asked to check on a down power line on East
130th street and Iroquois Avenue in November. The officer said he saw a down
telephone line. Later that day, 12-year-old Gasia Thomas touched the wire and
was shocked. Her family filed a lawsuit against the city.Steigelmeyer was
suspended for 20 days without pay for that incident
