BEDFORD, New Hampshire — A New Hampshire police officer who was fired
after his unmarked police cruiser was involved in a Bedford hit-and-run that
injured two teens has waived his right to an evidentiary hearing.
The lawyer for former
Manchester Officer Stephen Coco says Coco waived the probable cause hearing
scheduled to take place in Merrimack District Court on Tuesday.
Coco's case will now be
presented to a grand jury for possible indictment. He is free on bail and
facing felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident.
The teens — 18-year-old Dean
Drukker and 17-year-old Noah Hickman — were struck from behind March 22 as they
walked toward Hickman's home on a quiet residential street. Coco lives about a
mile from the scene and told investigators he didn't leave home that night.
